Brouard Architects were appointed to deliver a new nursery building for 120 children of 400 sqm, using Modern Methods of Construction to meet both a tight budget and an ambitious programme.
The design responds to the needs of young users by creating a stimulating, child-friendly environment that connects seamlessly with the outdoors.
The new cabins are arranged in a U-shape to form a sheltered terrace, with a mature tree as a central focal point, visually and physically linking the building to the garden.
Timber cladding was introduced on the most prominent elevations to enhance the character of the scheme and provide a warm, high-quality appearance.
Our commission covered RIBA Stages 2, 3 and 4, along with on-site support during construction, including the review of the manufacturer’s working drawings.
Two existing timber frame buildings were carefully integrated into the masterplan and repurposed as a workshop and a play barn, maximising the value of existing assets.
