🏗️ Fitness Centre at ravensbournesch in Bromley

We offered a full architectural service for the delivery of a fitness centre extension, built directly above their existing changing rooms.

With the limited space on the site, our design makes efficient use of a steel post structure to support the new building, maximising the available area while maintaining the functionality of the existing facilities.

The extension provides a modern, well-equipped fitness centre that enhances the school’s sports provision without compromising their day-to-day operations.

🏗️ Liver Intensive Therapy Unit for King’s College Hospital

This project comprised the refurbishment of the world-renowned 19-bedded specialist critical care unit, the Liver Intensive Therapy Unit (LITU) that is dedicated to the care of critically ill people.

Delivered from concept brief through to completion, the scheme introduced translucent toughened glass sliding panel enclosures to enhance infection control, supervision, and patient privacy, providing visual and acoustic separation.

An integrated overhead gantry system was incorporated to optimise clinical efficiency.

🏗️ Mixed Development in Gillingham, Kent

This project comprised the demolition of a derelict warehouse-style building and the construction of a mixed-use development with 14 one- and two-bedroom residential units, commercial space, and ground-floor parking. The Council identified the site as both an “unfriendly backland” and a Key Building Space between two roads of contrasting character, recognising its potential to act as a catalyst for future growth in the area. As a result, design quality, material selection, and the justification of the proposed height and volume were central considerations, supported by further urban design analysis and in-house 3D modelling with Zmapping.

The approved scheme responds to its varied context through two linked volumes: a front and rear element connected by a vertical circulation core. The top floor is set back from both sides, to ease the transition with surrounding buildings, while the rear volume is set back from side and rear boundaries to protect neighbouring privacy, daylight, and sunlight, with additional privacy screens. Access remains as existing, with a proposed landscaped strip on the boundary.

🏗️ King’s College Hospital Dental Institute Entrance Lobby

A new draft lobby clearly defines the entrance to the Dental Institute, featuring Schüco curtain walling with passive solar control via an integrated louvre blade system. The design includes a Part M compliant access ramp, ensuring full accessibility in line with hospital requirements, and a modern reception desk to enhance visitor experience.

Services provided encompassed design development, full planning application, production of working drawings, NBS specification, and contract administration.

👏We are delighted that this project has now been completed, improving access and delivering lasting benefits for visitors.👏

🏗️ @littlebarnowls Nursery in West Grinstead, West Sussex

Conversion of an existing building into a day nursery for 110 children in 2 phases, with associated part M compliant disabled ramp and stairs.

Brouard Architects were commissioned to convert an existing restaurant building into a fully functional day nursery, delivered in two phases. Our work included the preparation of planning and building regulation–compliant drawing packages to ensure a smooth approval and construction process.

The design focused on rationalising the existing layout to create direct connections between classrooms and the garden, enhancing interaction with outdoor spaces.
Additional considerations included toilet and changing facilities, staff accommodation, child safety measures, and a Part M–compliant disabled ramp and stairs to ensure accessibility for all.

👏This project demonstrates our expertise in transforming existing buildings into safe, inspiring, and practical educational environments for young children.👏
