Project Outline

Refurbishment of the world-renowned 19-bed Liver Intensive Treatment Unit (15 ICU, 4  HDU), dedicated to the care of critically ill patients with acute liver failure, complex liver disease, and post-operative liver transplantation.

Delivered from concept brief through to completion, the scheme introduced translucent toughened glass sliding panel enclosures to enhance infection control, supervision, and patient privacy, providing visual and acoustic separation. An integrated overhead gantry
system was incorporated to optimise clinical efficiency and flexibility.

The project was proposed and shortlisted for the Building Better Hospitals Award in 2003.
